Privacy Policy
Effective 16 August 2026 · Questions: support@thesportsdesk.app
We collect the minimum needed to run the Service: your email address, your subscription status, and basic usage data. We do not sell personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles.
1. What we collect
| Category | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address, display name, sign-in timestamps | Authentication and account recovery |
| Billing | Subscription tier, status, renewal date, payment-processor customer ID | Providing paid access and handling renewals |
| Product | Saved lineups, scenarios, model settings | Persisting your work between sessions |
| Technical | IP address, browser type, pages requested, error logs | Security, rate limiting, debugging |
| Correspondence | Messages you send us via the contact form or email | Answering you |
We never see your card details. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We store only a customer reference and the subscription state.
2. What we do not collect
- No card numbers, bank details or government identifiers
- No advertising or cross-site tracking profiles
- No third-party ad network pixels
- No wagering history — we are not a sportsbook and have no visibility into any bets you place elsewhere
3. Legal bases (UK/EU)
- Contract — account, subscription and product data, needed to deliver what you paid for
- Legitimate interests — security, abuse prevention, debugging and aggregate product analytics
- Consent — optional analytics cookies and any marketing email, each withdrawable at any time
- Legal obligation — tax and accounting records
4. How we use it
To authenticate you, provide and gate paid features, process subscriptions, respond to support requests, keep the Service secure, and understand which features are used so we can improve them. We do not use your personal data to train models — our models are fit on public football statistics only.
5. Sharing
We share data only with processors that run the Service on our behalf:
- Neon — database hosting (account and product data)
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
- Postmark — transactional email, including sign-in links
- Vercel — application hosting, logging and CDN
We may disclose data where legally required, or to protect our rights or the safety of users. We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
6. International transfers
Our processors operate in the United States and other jurisdictions. Where data is transferred out of the UK or EEA, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
7. Retention
- Account data — while your account exists, then up to 30 days
- Billing records — up to 7 years, as required by tax and accounting law
- Server and security logs — up to 90 days
- Support correspondence — up to 24 months
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents additionally have rights to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing — we do neither.
Exercise any of these by emailing support@thesportsdesk.app. We respond within 30 days and will not discriminate against you for asking. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Security
Traffic to thesportsdesk.app is encrypted in transit — the domain is on the HSTS preload list, so browsers refuse unencrypted connections outright. Data is encrypted at rest by our database provider. Sign-in uses single-use, expiring links rather than stored passwords, so there is no password database to breach.
No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users and the relevant regulator as required by law.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes
We will post any changes here with a revised effective date, and notify you by email if the change is material.
